James Hann’s path to the courtroom didn’t start in a law office. It started in a police dispatch center.

Before becoming an attorney, James spent five years as a police dispatcher for the UC San Diego Police Department. Dispatchers sit at the center of every investigation. They hear how officers build a case in real time, what gets documented and what gets missed, and how the record that reaches a courtroom gets made. Those five years gave James a working knowledge of police investigations and procedures that most attorneys only encounter secondhand. Nowhere is that more valuable than in personal injury cases, where the police report and the accident investigation often shape the entire claim. James graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1995. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2001, where he also completed a Certificate of Concentration in Intellectual Property.
